At Cheltenham Racecourse, the range of suites and outdoor space lend itself to a range of events including art fayres, sporting events such as marathons and music festivals.
The Cheltenham Challenge attracts more than 1,000 participants each year to take part in a choice of medium and long distance runs to raise money for charity.
The challenge has existed in its current guise since 2014 when Cheltenham-based charity Caring for Communities and People (CCP), took over the management of the event.
The event offers multi-terrain courses over 5k, 10k and half marathon distances, and is open to both runners and walkers. The 5k run is a multi-terrain off-road route using public footpaths and fields around Cheltenham Racecourse.
The 10k challenge follows much of the same route, but after a loop around the field, it follows public footpaths north towards Southam and the Ellenborough Park Hotel, before heading south again towards and through Prestbury village and back around the outside of the racecourse.
The Half Marathon route presents a tough challenge for experienced distance runners and a rewarding route for walkers. This event is open to ages 17 and over only.
It is a multi-terrain 13.1 mile route using public footpaths and sections of the Cheltenham Circular Footpath, Cotswold Way and Winchcombe Way.
In 2019 it returned on June 16 for its 24th year at Cheltenham Racecourse, with approximately 1,500 runners along with their spectators at the start and finish line.
