Countdown to the Coral World Grand Prix begins

A month to go until the Coral World Grand Prix will arrive at Cheltenham Racecourse.

In just a month’s time, the Coral World Grand Prix will arrive at Cheltenham Racecourse bringing some of the world’s best snooker players to the Cotswolds.

This is the first time that the event will be held at the venue and we are extremely excited to host it –but we still have much work to do!

We have all been watching snooker a lot on TV recently so we get to know the players faces and see how other venues arrange their events.

With the event fast-approaching, the team is in full preparation mode and planning every detail to make sure that the racecourse is ready for February 4.

Just before Christmas we hosted a final planning meeting – ITV will be showing the competition on ITV 4, so they are a big part of the planning.

We need to make sure the infrastructure is right for them to beam the footage around the world.

A number of meetings will also be going ahead in the coming days to make sure we have procedures in place across the different departments.

Next week we will have a catch-up with our catering team to position the catering points across the site – spectators will want to be fed and watered between the sessions so we will look at the offerings and location to ensure the process is a smooth as can be.

We are also working on our security team plan – we will have stewards in place every day for the safety our guests and they are here to help people find the various locations across the site.

The Coral World Grand Prix is running until February 10 in The Centaur, giving audiences the perfect view of all the action from the tables.

It will feature the leading 32 players on the 2018/19 season one-year ranking list and there is just one event to go.

The final counting event is the German Masters, which finishes on February 3. After that the line-up will be confirmed.

As it stands, Mark Allen tops the list, with Ronnie O’Sullivan in second, Mark Selby in third and Mark Williams in fourth.

Other players currently among the top 32 include Neil Robertson, Judd Trump, John Higgins, Shaun Murphy, Ding Junhui, and local favourite Jack Lisowski from Churchdown.

There are still some tickets available for certain days of the tournament and we also have some amazing hospitality on offer as well.
