Catch up with Christina from Cheltenham Racecourse

We caught up with Regional Business Development Executive, Christina McKenzie out on the road.

We caught up with Regional Business Development Executive for South West Conference and Events, Christina McKenzie as she gives us an update on where she has been and what she has in store for the next few weeks.

“The month of April has been an adjustment after the highs of the Festival in March.  When we are not hosting hundreds of thousands of people here at Cheltenham, we have on offer some of the biggest and best conference and event spaces in the South West. The Centaur can take an impressive 3000 people in a reception style, with some of the other venues in the group not far behind.

I have joined the Jockey Club as part of our Conference and Events team to raise awareness of our South West venues, and so begins the story of my travels up and down the length and breadth of the South West of the UK.  No Agent is too big or small and each week I visit all the Agency’s in my region, which initially looked a daunting task but a few months in, I am making traction.  Last month I travelled as far as Bournemouth, and managed to get eight appointments in two days.  No small feat, but it was a pleasure to meet so many dedicated event professionals, including Venue & Hotel Finders, Seventa, Go to Events, Zanna, and CTA Leisure.

Gareth and I had a great day at the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Expo, as well as hosting a fantastic, fun group at the Master’s Darts on the 5th of April with a VIP table attended by some of the team from Arrange My and BCD.

The following week I was off to present to Capita in Taunton with Kerry from Lime Venue Portfolio, and then down to visit another one of our South West’s Venues, the beautiful Exeter Racecourse. An example of the spread we put on for our Agent presentations – the high standards our racing visitors have become used to receiving are carried on.

During this time we arranged an exciting FAM trip for some of our Agent’s – a day with us in arguably the best Private Box at Cheltenham for the April races, followed by a night at the stunning 5* Ellenborough Park Hotel. The day was a huge success with many of our guests enjoying some winners.

I look forward to letting you know about my next exciting journey and the people I get to meet.”
