Ronnie O’Sullivan, the five-time world champion, visit to The Centaur was very short – one evening! But the tournament went well and Judd Trump won. The coverage on ITV 4 was excellent and it was a great way to showcase our venue. We hope that the tournament will return next year.
January has been a quietish month but we welcomed Mid Counties and the Gloucestershire Dentists again and in February we look forward to NFU, and 2 big conferences in The Centaur before the ever popular Crew Clothing sale at the end of the month.
Kenny, our technical manager, has taken the opportunity to do the annual maintainece and inspection work in The Centaur.
Planning work for the events later in the year continues apace – we have tendered for the production work for our annual industry award ceremony – The McCoy’s – and we are looking forward to meeting with the shortlisted companies and seeing and hearing what exciting elements they suggest to add to this excellent event in September.
The first planning meeting for the Christmas party night took place just yesterday – I know I know it is some 10 months away but we are working hard to make sure the event is a really special for the 700 guests. The theme is “Hollywood” this year so make sure you book your tickets before they all sell out. Having just had the Oscars we are enjoying looking at our own Oscar statues and other Bollywood bling to get ideas for the décor on the night. Click here to find out more.
We are delighted to be announced as a finalist for the 2019 EN Awards. We are one of 4 in the Best venue under 8000sqm – our competitors are: QEII Centre, ILEC Conference Centre and Business Design Centre. The award ceremony takes place at the end of February.
