We are right in the midst of the Christmas Party season now – we will host a number of parties over the next two weeks and party-goers will boogie the night away after a delightful turkey supper. With Hollywood theming, I am sure we will see some great pictures across everyone’s social media over the next few days.
Everyone is looking for a new angle, approach and USP when hosting an event, a little slice of something different to make their event stand out from the rest.
We love planning parties and events for our clients and as we move on into the New Year, we have got the wheels in motion planning for our 2020 Christmas parties. The Greatest Showman is one of my favourite movies of the year and we look forward to decking out The Centaur next year.
It is worth noting that spending on entertainment and experiences in the UK is up 12.5% over the last year. This growth would indicate that we as consumers are spending less on ‘stuff’ and putting our money towards unique experiences and meaningful memories. We place a high value on experiences that we can share, particularly on social media and are looking to prioritise getting that truly ‘instagram-able’ shot.
As a venue, we are noticing an increased demand to push the boundaries and diversify the use of our facilities with a range of wonderful events. Snooker, Darts, running races, cycle races, learner driver lessons, coach photo shoots, bungee jumping are to name but a few.
We enjoy bringing to life our clients imagination and making them become a reality.
For instance, the annual Horse and Hound Awards Ceremony took place last week with 300 guests’ who enjoyed the evening in The Centaur. Guests were greeted by two police horses from the mounted unit of the Gloucestershire Constabulary.
To get in the festive spirit, a few lucky guests found a golden envelope in a goodie bag and were invited to open a door on the giant advent calendar to win super prizes.

Our industry is in a strong place but with more and more venues to choose from we are working hard to develop and progress.
As Richard Catton, media manager at Harrogate Convention Centre said in Conference News this month, “Any venue nowadays who can’t offer flexibility within its packages is operating in a bygone era.”
We are looking forward to seeing the eclectic mix of events here in the next 12 months and beyond.
We wish you a Merry Christmas from the team at Cheltenham Racecourse and best wishes for the New Year.
